This project was so much fun to be involved with. Working with such a talented, multi-genre musician as Chris of Simply Red fame, left us buzzing with excitement and full of inspiration.

ABOUT CHRIS JOYCE DRUMS

Chris Joyce is a multi-genre drummer with international level experience spanning decades. The Manchester born musician kicked off his drumming career at the age of 15, playing and releasing songs and albums with a range of rock and punk bands. In 1985 Chris joined the band Simply Red, releasing their first single “Money’s Too Tight To Mention” and played with the band until 1991.

Today, Chris uses his expertise and knowledge to teach drummers of all ages and abilities. Operating as Chris Joyce Drums, Chris holds both in person and online lessons as well as recording drum tutorials and hosting lives via his You Tube Channel. When Chris isn’t teaching, he plays and records with his band DoveTails.

WHAT WE DO

I was approached by Chris during lockdown to help revitalise his retro branding.

The project involved a new logo, brand and website design. We designed the logo with a fun, modern feel yet keeping a hint of retro. The overall branding involves monotone imagery with pops of bright yellow and blue, accompanied with strong typographic styling.

This was then applied to Chris’ website design and e-newsletter.
